The Situation
A building company completed renovations on a rental unit for a property investor. The investor withheld the final payment for over three years. When pressed for payment, the investor suddenly claimed there were defects, such as mould and cracks, that had allegedly appeared years after the work was finished, using this as a reason not to pay.
